The new Mercedes Benz AMG GLS 63 is a very luxurious SUV with a lot of interior space with its three rows of seats and good cargo space. When you are behind the wheel of this SUV it makes you feel like the king of the road driving the largest Mercedes Benz SUV that exists.

Recently, car manufacturers around the world, including the Germans like BMW and Mercedes Benz, are producing larger and more luxurious SUVs. There is no limit on price, and it is common to see cars like the GLS 63 I am driving with prices close to $150,000. But behind this price, there is a lot of technology, luxury, and many features that are included in the base price.
It seems that the only thing that Mercedes Benz was missing in the GLS 63 is a pair of wings so that it could fly, because there are too many functions and extras that it includes, which would normally cost additional money in other cars, even of the same brand, but in this case they are already included in the price.
These are some of the most impressive features of the largest Mercedes Benz SUV ever SUV GLS 63
- AMG 4.0L twin-turbo V8 engine handcrafted in Germany with hybrid assistance
- 9-Speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G Transmission
- Power 603 horsepower at 5750-6500 rpm
- Torque 627 lb-ft at 2500-4500 rpm
- AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel drive with fully variable torque distribution
The new GLS 63 is the head of the AMG SUV family.
This super SUV from Mercedes Benz has extraordinary response, improved refinement, and ample space for passengers and cargo placing it at the forefront of innovation within the German brand. The German-crafted hybrid V8 biturbo engine, AMG Performance 4MATIC, and AMG RIDE CONTROL come together for superior performance.
The new Mercedes AMG GLS 63 includes many new features in terms of design, technology, and equipment. Better comfort, connectivity, new software, and better performance from the Mercedes Benz full-size SUV model series.
Prices for the only AMG GLS 63 SUV model
The 2024 Mercedes Benz AMG GLS 63 SUV is only available in one version, there are no other models or versions to choose from. The base price of this single model is $145,850 and you can add some of the available options to upgrade your GLS, but there aren’t that many options to choose from since this GLS is already fully equipped.
There are other GLS series SUV models such as the GLS 450 and GLS 580, but neither of these two are from the AMG series.
Most of the options you can add to the 2024 model are cosmetic features to improve the design, and also options to improve the third row, such as heated third-row seats, for an additional cost of $360.
The seating capacity that normally comes for 7 passengers can also be reduced. By reducing the seating capacity you will obtain more internal space.
For drivers like me who like to have plenty of seating for family and friends, the 7-seat configuration is perfect, but some people prefer more space and fewer seats. This SUV can be configured for 7 or 6 seats.
The second row features standard power seats, increased legroom, and 40/20/40 split-folding seatbacks.
The third row of the GLS 63 offers space for two adults, along with luxury touches, from air conditioning to cupholders and charging ports. The third row also folds electrically with a 50/50 split seat to increase cargo space.
High-quality Burmester premium audio
One of the optional features you can add to your new GLS 63 is Burmester’s high-end 3D surround sound system for an additional $4,550.
The AMG GLS 63 comes fully equipped and packed with features and functions included in the base price.
If we talk about details, the GLS 63 is a work of art full of details, advanced technology, and premium features that will make you feel that this SUV can fly, almost fly.
Power front seats with memory, heated and ventilated front seats.
One of my favorite relaxing features of this Mercedes Benz SUV is the standard multi-contour front seats with massage, you can enjoy eight massage programs to relax your back and shoulders while driving, including “hot stone” massages and the “active” massage, in addition to the “Training Program” to help strengthen the muscles of the back and legs.
This is not the typical Mercedes Benz where you can and almost have to add many features and select different trim models. Unlike other models, almost everything is already included and the GLS 63 is available in only one model, a very luxurious and advanced trim model that is super loaded and super equipped.
One of the options is seat heating, the list of luxury and premium features continues with wheel locking bolts, chrome door handle inserts, chrome loading sill protection, all-season floor mats in the first and second row, black rubber, and more accessories that will make you feel like the king of the road.
The illuminated running boards are stylish and functional, making it easy to enter and exit the vehicle while providing a strong design element. The running boards are dotted with grippy rubber studs, for a safer step even in adverse weather conditions. The elegant LED lighting perfectly integrated into the step area helps illuminate the way into the cabin of the GLS.
When the S-Class of an SUV meets AMG champions, higher levels of performance and luxury come together, resulting in a car like the GLS 63.
Mercedes-Benz’s largest SUV is also among its most elegant, thanks to the extensive aerodynamic development of its muscular shape. From its bold new styling to its oversized 21- to 23-inch AMG wheels, the GLS 63 is impressive, both for its power, its design, styling, and its comfortable seven-seat cabin packed with innovation and luxury.

Beautiful design
The new GLS 63 model is visually distinguished by the newly designed LED taillight signature.
Two new colors have been added to the range of paint finishes: MANUFAKTUR Alpine Gray Non-Metallic and Twilight Blue Metallic.
The front panel now also bears the AMG emblem on the vehicle’s bonnet, which will be the new hallmark of all future AMG vehicles. The red brake calipers further enhance the dynamic character of the vehicle. When opening the front doors, an AMG-specific lighting animation is displayed with the help of a new logo projector. Wheel sizes range from standard 21-inch ten-spoke alloy wheels to optional 22- and 23-inch wheels, including forged designs.
Novelties inside
The AMG seats and elements such as the instrument panel are upholstered in exclusive nappa leather. The new Bay Brown/Black and Macchiato Beige/Black are among the upholstery color combinations available. For the interior equipment, glossy brown linden wood is now also available as an option, in addition to the new Flowing Lines gloss lacquer from MANUFAKTUR. The interior of the new Mercedes-AMG GLS also benefits from the latest generation of MBUX, which features an AMG-specific display design and functions that make the brand experience even more tangible.
Lots of standard options and equipment are included in the base price
The included equipment is even more extensive than that of the predecessor, which was already luxuriously equipped. It includes, among other things, the panoramic sunroof, heated and ventilated front seats, adaptive high beam assist, and wireless smartphone integration. Also included are the selectable AMG Performance exhaust system, Burmester surround sound system, 360-degree surround view system, and blind spot assist.
The new GLS 63 includes the latest generation of the AMG Performance steering wheel. The buttons of the AMG drive unit impress with their brilliant display and intuitive operating logic. These allow you to control important driving functions and all driving modes without the driver’s hands leaving the wheel. The steering wheel is heated and is also available with a carbon fiber design.
This SUV includes special equipment features such as the MBUX augmented video function, MULTIBEAM LED headlights and the driver assistance package Plus. The list continues with the AIR BALANCE package, multi-contour front seats, and head-up display. MBUX Interior Assist along with heated and cooled front cupholders are also included.
In the GLS 63, the proven hand-built AMG 4.0-litre V8 Biturbo engine with an output of 603 hp offers powerful propulsion. Explosive power delivery with finely controlled power output really sets it apart. To achieve this, the Twin-Scroll turbochargers are located between the cylinder heads for better response. The cylinder closure system significantly improves efficiency when less energy is required.
The Mercedes-AMG engine has been systematically electrified with a 48-volt auxiliary onboard electrical system and an integrated starter generator (ISG). The ISG combines a starter motor and alternator into a powerful electric motor and is installed between the engine and transmission. The ISG also performs hybrid functions, such as acceleration, recovery, changing the load point, gliding, and almost imperceptible restart of the engine with the start/stop function.
AMG suspension makes you feel like you are driving through the air
Active roll stabilization with new configuration
AMG 4.0-liter biturbo V8 engine handcrafted in Germany with hybrid assistance
People often talk about how Italian premium car brands make their cars by hand, but in this case, the German premium car maker is hand-making the advanced engine of the GLS in Germany. The AMG engine is hand-built in Germany and shipped to Mercedes’ assembly plant in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where the assembly process is completed.
The GLS 63’s master engine, the AMG Biturbo V8, is what you would expect from a car that costs around 150,000 euros. The powerful engine generates 603 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque from a modest 4.0 liter, can accelerate to 60 in 4.1 seconds, and delivers quick response at any speed.
The engine’s handcrafted “hot inside V” turbo placement reduces lag and losses. An integrated electric start generator can efficiently add off-gas torque. The AMG Cylinder Manager can deactivate four cylinders without problems. However, even with all these advancements, each V8 is still hand-built and signed by its own craftsman.
Standard dynamic engine mounts
Computer-controlled dynamic engine mounts further elevate performance. They are filled with magnetorheological fluid that can be progressively hardened by an electrical current. By individually optimizing their mount, they can maximize handling precision in extreme driving while delivering smooth refinement in normal driving.
Standard Hybrid Integrated Starter-Generator
The V8 biturbo petrol engine is electrified by an innovative integrated starter generator. It’s paired with a 48-volt lithium-ion battery, plus a power source for previously belt-driven components like the water pump and air conditioning compressor. These advancements help reduce weight and improve packaging under the hood. And it can generate additional power and torque for an immediate 100% electric response.
Standard ECO start/stop system
An ECO Start/Stop system automatically shuts off the engine at traffic lights and other idling situations, to save fuel and reduce emissions. As soon as the driver releases the brake, the engine instantly restarts for quick acceleration response. An added benefit of the built-in boot generator is how it can make the reboot process smoother than ever. The driver can also deactivate the ECO Start/Stop system at any time.
Nine-speed transmission
The advanced AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G nine-speed transmission is the perfect gearbox for this large SUV. With so many gear changes, it is difficult to feel the changes from one gear to another. Almost imperceptible changes make the driving experience of the new GLS 63 smoother and quieter.
Safety features
Driving a big, fast car like the GLS 63 is a serious responsibility, it’s almost like you’re driving a missile. It’s very fast and powerful, and to keep you safe on the road, this SUV includes many safety features as standard.
Standard Car-to-X Communication
In the future, cars will be able to communicate with each other via radio waves. At the GLS, the future begins today. With its industry-leading Car-to-X communication, each new GLS can automatically alert a central notification system of certain hazards, from detected wheel spin to the use of hazard flashers or even windshield wipers. The system can then alert other Car-to-X drivers through displays or dashboard announcements, allowing precautions to be taken before reaching danger.
Mercedes-Benz emergency call service
If an airbag or emergency seat belt tensioning device deploys, your car can automatically initiate a call to Mercedes-Benz emergency services, transmitting your GPS-determined location and useful vehicle information on your behalf. Trained experts are available 24/7 to help summon local emergency services to your location. You can also press the SOS button in the vehicle anytime you need emergency assistance or consult someone else who needs it. This emergency service is included in the vehicle, regardless of who drives it.
Standard Active Brake Assist
Radar-based technology can alert you if you are approaching a vehicle ahead, or even some stationary objects, at a speed and distance that suggest a collision is likely.
As soon as you begin to brake, it can automatically provide an appropriate level of braking to help prevent a collision or reduce its severity. If you don’t respond, it can also initiate braking automatically at a variety of driving speeds. The system can also help detect and react to pedestrians crossing at typical city speeds.
Standard ATTENTION ASSIST included at no additional cost
The first system of its kind, ATTENTION ASSIST, continuously monitors up to 70 driving behavior parameters and can automatically alert the driver with visual and audible warnings if it detects signs of drowsiness on long trips. With improved sensitivity, the system can also help detect drivers who begin their journey drowsy and provide more useful information to drivers throughout their journey through an in-dash display.
The AMG RIDE CONTROL suspension with adjustable adaptive damping is also included. The AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL active roll stabilization system works with two electromechanical actuators on the front and rear axle. The system reduces body roll during cornering and allows more precise adjustment of load-shifting behavior and cornering precision. It also increases driving comfort when driving in a straight line, as unilateral road imperfections are compensated.
The roll stabilization and air suspension also benefit from a software update and new settings. These measures increase the difference between dynamic handling and comfort. Software tuning for the ESP settings, the electronically controlled rear axle locking differential, the AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive, and the suspension control system offers a dynamic and superior driving experience.
Warranty extension
I love driving an MB vehicle but one of the things I am most careful about is maintenance and repairs. Mercedes Benz cars are ultra-advanced machines that can be very expensive to repair if your car is out of warranty.
The Original New Vehicle Limited Warranty for Mercedes Benz automobiles in the United States covers defects in material or workmanship for 48 months (4 years) or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first, but time and mileage can go by quickly and it’s easy to discover that your car’s warranty has already expired, so you could have to pay out of pocket for a very expensive repair.
The Mercedes-Benz Extended Limited Warranty can be a great way to save long-term and have peace of mind. The extended warranty is an extension of the original New Vehicle Limited Warranty with some exceptions.
There are a few options, you can extend your 1 year and 75,000-mile warranty to 3 years and 100,000 miles.
The largest and most luxurious Mercedes Benz SUV that exists, the AMG GLS 63 is an excellent car for the whole family and friends with plenty of interior space for those who can pay close to 150 thousand dollars for this luxurious SUV.
Prepaid maintenance
An interesting option for greater peace of mind and savings is the Mercedes-Benz Premier prepaid maintenance package.
You can save up to 30% on routine maintenance costs, there are several prepaid packages available.
